End of the Nightmare: Stormrage(Major Spoilers)
Return to board index

"There is no hope for your struggle this time...."
The voice sent a shiver through Malfurion. He knew it very, very well. Almost without thinking, the archdruid reverted to his form. "I was too kind to you Xavius..."
" 'Kind'? I lived trapped, tortured for more then ten millennia!" Xavius/Remulos roared, spitting on his foe. "Watching and waiting and screaming for release! I burned when the land burned, only to have my bark heal and my branches grow anew! Wat you suffered was but a minute expression of what I lived through over and over and over!"
"I'm sorry then...." Malfurion replied, truly meaning it. He had done his work too well; Xavius the Nightmare Lord was as much his creation as the counselor's. "I would go back and change it, if I could...."This quote more then anything sets the over all tone of the book. Stormrage, by Ricard Knaak, was incredible; learning about the true threat of the Nightmare and seeing how the Dream was corrupted by the spirit of the ancient Night Elf Satyr Lord working with an Old God(who merely had a presence in the last chapter, and is still unnamed).
Still, I suppose I should I make a synopsis eh? Well too bad, technically the book isn't out till next week, so I'm not going to put the entire thing in here heh. I'll answer question though, so feel free to ask.

So Xavius is the source behind the Emerald Nightmare? I find that slightly dissapointing, though. Does Ysera make an appearance?

Yes, Xavius was the face of the Nightmare, and with the help of his Old God patron, his little tree ended up rivaling the World Trees within Aszhara. And Ysera is in the book, she's a major plot part as the Nightmare wants her captured to force Azeroth and the Dream to combine into one unending Nightmare of horror and suffering.

Also, Varok is no longer the last Saurfang, there is another: Thura, daughter of the half-brother of Broxigar and Varok heh.

Thura, daughter of the half-brother of Broxigar and Varok heh.
This doesn't sound right.
Nice, Xavius became an evil talking tree that corrupted the Dream. Interesting and... creative?
Eh, ten bucks we see Thura in Cata heh.
Well, considering how many times Xavius cheated death in War of the Ancients, not really surprised to see him back. And the Nightmare isn't completely gone; there is one last place within the Dream that the taint is still there.

Stormrage, by Ricard Knaak, was incredibleFar superior to war of the ancients, was more like Day of the Dragon.
A female horde hero? One that isn't a blood elf? Rejoice!Aye.

Ok... she is Broxigar's half brother and Varok's daughter. No heh, she is the daughter of an unnamed Orc who is Brox's half-brother by a different Father..... which might mean Saurfang is a half-brother as well heh.

Heh, Malfurion manipulated Thura to help free him from the Nightmare Lord, who had transformed his Dreamform into a tree; Thura thought Malfurion killed Brox as she was having dreams about the death of her Uncle, so when she was entrusted with the Axe of Cenarius, the Archdruid used that to start planning for his freedom.

Does Thura do anything
over-powered
?
No, but Varian almost kills her just for being an orc. But, she worked well with the forces, and she helped Malfurion destroy Xavius completely this time; she used the Axe to destroy the Nightmare Lord's dream form.

I thought this ended with Malfurion saying he is sorry.
Nope, book ends with Malfurion and Tyrande getting married(finally), and Thura is there for the orcs.
