Present Day:
His brown skin dripped with red. Tendrils of life flowed down his dark armor like rivers of wine in canyons of granite. He noticed them and smiled. It made him hunger for more. The sensation lingered for a slow, blissful moment, then faded away. He looked down at the source. An axe- his axe, stuck into the violet torso of some unlucky, nameless elven female.
Another came to him and placed a green hand on his shoulder. The voice he heard was familiar, but seemed distant. "Warchief, the city is taken."
He snapped to attention and smiled wider, showing his tusks- defiant and grim. "Burn it to the ground. Salvage what supplies you find."
The voice spoke again, "What of the survivors?" It seemed timid, almost weak in the questioning. He sneered at the tone.
He wiped the blood from his armor and tasted it. It was sweet, sustaining, and plentiful. "There were no survivors," he said. His voice was calm and cool, but the words burned with a fire that could not be quenched. His thoughts turned inward, "Soon, all the world will know the might of the Horde... and with it, they will know
my
power."
---------
Two Months Earlier:
Rain beat down on the zeppelin deck. It was almost as if the elements themselves were protesting the flight of the machine. Below deck, violent yells and bellows sprang forth. The goblin crew kept to themselves. They knew better than to meddle in the affairs of angry orcs.
Thrall sat calmly while the other orc berated him with complaints and insults. What else could he do? This pup was the son of an orc he had considered a brother. He was brash and inexperienced, and Northrend had done nothing to calm him, to make him understand what they face in this world. But still, he could not bring himself to cast away a person whom he considered to be family.
"You were kidnapped by humans and yet," he spat the words, "you allow them their peace and their false words. They know nothing of honor! They are cowards and liars! They should be wiped from the world! This world should be ours, and ours alone!"
Thrall began to protest, but did not. He knew it would have no effect. The only thing that would settle this would be the challenge that had been interrupted over a year ago. Instead of protesting, he did the only thing that he could think to do. He stood and spoke in his calm, firm tone, "Garrosh... I had hoped that you would see... that war would help you understand our position." He sighed and drew out his warhammer. "It is time that we finish this."
The other orc was stunned, but quickly regained his composure. "Fine... if you will not listen to words, then I will make you listen." He drew out his axes and left the room, heading to the deck. Thrall heaved a sigh and followed.
Lightning cracked overhead and thunder rumbled behind it. Walking on the deck was like walking on ice. The rain did not relent, even as the two orcs faced off against one another. In a blinding flash of movement, it was over. Thrall sprawled on the deck, bleeding from a wound to his stomach. Garrosh stood over him, not stooping to aid or offer condolence, but smiling.
He knelt down to his victim and whispered in his ear. "You are a fool. My father was stronger than you ever could be, and so am I. The Horde is mine. With my power, the Horde will drive everything from this world. We will finally have what is rightfully ours."
Thrall spoke weakly, "Garrosh... please... don't do this."
Garrosh laughed at the feeble attempt to bring forth compassion. "You said that war will bring the death of our people. War is the only thing we know. It gives us purpose, meaning, direction! It gives us the drive we need to do anything...
everything
! Without it, we are no better than cattle. I will give our people what they need.
I will give them war.
"
The brown-skinned orc picked up the body of the fallen Warchief and walked to the railing. As though he were tossing food to wolves, he dropped the shaman off the side of the zeppelin. As he watched the body fall, a voice inside him spoke, "War is power."
He smiled and spoke aloud even without an audience to hear the words, "And I intend to harness it."

I think I might. I intended to make this as an antithesis of sorts to Skreeran's series, showing a Garrosh as a power-hungry monster, basically.

Heh, sounds like a good plan, and you know Skree won't mind.

Certainly better than the one-dimensional Garrosh we see right now. I trust that Hi, despite showing Garrosh in a darker light than I, will give Garrosh an actual standpoint, which is more than we can say for him in the canon right now.

Oh yes, I intend to make sure that this Garrosh is multi-dimensional. Those dimensions might be laced with hatred, anger, bloodlust, and a touch of insanity... but there's more than one. :D

Just make sure you keep him justified. Any good anti-hero should be relatable. Even if he's full of hatred, I think the reasons for that sure definitely be explored, otherwise he could be written off as flat. I'd much rather see a character like Grom, who felt battle-lust, sympathy, greed, remorse, pride, and honor, than just another stock villain. That is a large part of why I work so hard to develop Dag'rema, so that she's not just a Gul'dan clone. She's crazy and evil, yes, but she has reasons besides just the archetypical greed for power and superfluous sadism.
Not that I'm accusing you of making Garrosh flat. I'm just saying, that is what Blizzard currently appears to be doing, and I'm hoping that you'll attempt to remedy it by making him more than just another archetype.

I would really love to see this continued and it's nice to see more possible sides of Garrosh so we would atleast know how he could act in Cataclysm. one question though, about Thrall "losing" to Garrosh, the fact you wrote that was over in a single flash... does that mean Garrosh
backstabbed
bellycleaved Thrall before it could begin in honest?

With the way I've put this fight, I've allowed for people to draw their own conclusions about how it happened. Maybe Garrosh attacked dishonestly, maybe Thrall threw the fight, maybe that blinding flash of movement actually lasted longer than it's described and Garrosh just got the upper hand, etc.
So, think what you will about that particular fight. It's up to the reader to draw the conclusion, not up to the author to provide them. :D
