(( A little late, but its here ))
- It was
madness
. The Scourge swarmed around them, Nilon and Hadrian both. The two paladins had been able to hold them at bay so far, but their powers were waning. What was worse: they hadn't seen any survivors.
- Nilon's proto-drake banked to the right, avoiding a large shadowy bolt cast by a Scourge spellweaver on the ground below. But as it did, Nilon thought he saw something, a shadow that moved like it was alive. With a silent prayer to the Light, he had his mount move closer.
- As he neared the shadow, he saw that it was one of the Argent Crusade. "Comon," he yelled. "I'm here to take you back to the compound." The man ran from the shadows and leapt for the mount. He missed, but the dragon caught him in his claws and then took off for the Vanguard.
- "Thank you, friend," the crusader said, "but we're not out of trouble yet. They're planning a huge attack! We need to warn Highlord Fordring."
- Another attack?
Already
? Of course, he wasn't sure how long he'd been out. "Faster he urged the proto-dragon, and the beast complied. Nilon looked over his shoulder; Hadrian was also on his way back to the Argent Vanguard, a crusader in his drake's claws as well. The Scourge still flew around them, and the casters on the ground continued to fling shadow spells at them, but Nilon did his best to remain clam.
- "Faster, hero! We must get back to the Argent Vanguard and warn them of the impending attack!"
-
I don't think this thing can go any faster
, Nilon thought, scowling. He looked over his shoulder, a massive frost wyrm was flying up behind him. It got closer and closer, and then snapped its jaws at the proto-drake.
- But hit the mountainside at the same time. The wyrm fell to the ground, and Nilon and his drake passed through, unharmed, Hadrian and his drake behind. "That's going to leave a mark!" Hadrian yelled, and then started to laugh.
- Nilon didn't join the other paladin. He was focused on his goal. If he didn't make it back to the Vanguard in time to inform the Highlord they wouldn't be able to mount a proper defense against the undead.
- "Hero, let me off near to Highlord Fordring," the crusader said.
- Nilon was shocked. "No," he said, "you're too weak, who knows what the Scourge did to you. You need medical attention as soon as possible."
- "Every moment we waste is a moment that the Scourge uses against us," the crusader replied. "I'll be fine."
- "Reluctantly, Nilon agreed. He dropped the crusader near Fordring and then returned his proto-dragon to Penumbrius. He then hurried up to where Fordring stood, passing the crusader he had brought as the latter was carried away on a stretcher.
- "Highlord Fordring," Nilon said, "the Scourge, they're-."
- "I have already been informed, Sir Nilon." Tirion thought for a moment. "Arthas... He strikes recklessly - without care or caution. We have caught him off guard." Tirion paused, again lost in thought. "We will bolster our defenses and weather the storm.” He looked at the blood elf paladin. "How good are you with a cannon, Sir Nilon?"
...
- "The Scourge charge!" a watcher yelled, "prepare to mount the defense!"
- Nilon sat in one of the Argent Vanguard's towers, the cannon in front of him. He'd been given quick briefing on how to operate the machine, but he wasn't sure if he'd be able to use it to it's full effect.
- The other crusaders were either mounted in one of the other cannons on the vanguard walls, or on the ground outside the compound, ready to meet the Scourge head on.
- "Give them no quarter!" Tirion shouted, "for they will give you none! Show them now mercy, as they have shown the people of Azeroth none! Let the Light fall upon them, and let them feel its wrath!"
- The cries of the Scourge filled the air, and the Scourge poured over the through The Breach, quickly filling the area. Ghouls, skeletons and - worst of all - frost wyrms, swarmed towards the vanguard.
- In a panic, Nilon fired his cannon.
- The Light-empowered projectile flew through the air and slammed into the ground, sending out a holy explosion that decimated all nearby undead.
- Confidence rose in Nilon as he continued to fire the weapon into the midst of the Scourge. Slowly their numbers thinned, and Nilon turned his cannon on the wyrms flying above. One of them fell as the reckoning bomb struck it, but another dove towards Nilon. The paladin tried to fire, but his cannon was out of ammunition. He closed his eyes, bracing for the worst.
- The wyrm reached to tear Nilon apart, but a reckoning bomb from another cannon brought the undead dragon down. Nilon looked over in the direction the attack had come from. Hadrian gave him a thumbs up before returning his attention to the battle.
- Nilon grinned it was good to have allies. "I need more ammunition!" he called to the support teams within the walls.

ha ha! this is good morec, fun and exiting, everything we could want from a frozen north page.
Surprising for a first comment, last I saw my readers hated in-game quests being used - or was that sarcasm?
Either way, it'll be getting better. Wait untill Nilon and Co go to- well... I'll reveal my next location later.

There we have conflict of thoughts: if I use something, be it a quote from the Wrathgate or a book or even a quest, I like to use it exactly as it was said. Although I think I see what you mean.

Writer's Commentary:
- This is the last of the actual quests for a while - at least for a chapter. After that there'll be fewer ones, but there are some that I'd actually like to implement, and using a dungeon sounds like a good idea too.
- Of course that might fail, the original idea for this way back around... oh, the middle of LnD I think has changed a little bit from this, and the ending has gone through a few revisions. However, it's still subjugate to change.
- Page 11 shows the next chapter, but page 12 reveals the next 2 after that. Strange?

Preview day is here!
- "We just learned of it ourselves, Horde," Slayer spat, "show some respect for the Highlord."
- Nilon cringed. "Don't call me that." He'd learned what the female meant, that his people had joined the Horde alongside the orcs and their allies. Although he recognized that there were some honorable orcs, he still viewed Horde society as primitive, and a part of him refused to belive his people had sided with them. The even more unbelivable thing: the Alliance had accepted into its confidence a race that had members of its species in the
Burning Legion
.
Unthinkable
!
Heh, you'll have to wait untill friday to see what chapter two holds.
