Black Magic: This enchantment now sometimes increases haste rating for the caster rather than inflicting the caster's target with a damage-over-time effect. It is also now triggered by landing any harmful spell rather than inflicting damage with a spell.
I'm curious on what kind of haste increase this enchant will cause and if it could be a formidable replacement for the +63 spell power enchant. If anyone on the PTR could do some tests, I would love to see what results you come up with. I think it's excellent that blizzard is giving casters an extra choice when it comes to weapon enchants, depending on which stat we're lacking at whatever times. Now if only they give us another shield enchant too. =P

250 haste on proc

Definitely a potential replacement for Elemental Shaman, I will give it that. Once you've gotten into Uld gear, this does bear some serious thought into using.

Not sure if it is better than Zerk though
Exactly. An increase of haste can actually be DETRIMENTAL to your DPS, purely due to the WF Proc. Swing too fast (Haste will increase your white DPS), and your opportunities to hit will decrease:

Again, needs to be tested, my honest opinion is that it won't work for Enhance.

Assuming this is 250 haste for 15 seconds / 45 second ICD, this averages out to 83 haste rating yes? I sure hope it doesn't outscale zerking.

I'm yet to see an instance in which more haste decreases my DPS. Yes, going beyond 1.51 speed will cause a decrease in WF procs. But the increase in auto, FT and LS hits plus additional MW procs will still net you a DPS increase... just less that it would be before hitting 1.51 speed.

Actually read your link, don't just post it to give yourself some authority.
There is very little need to worry about the 1.51 - 1.41 hasted weapon range. The original claims about the supposed DPS loss had done no empirical or simulated testing to back up their modeling. More recent testing has indicated that whatever potential WF DPS is lost because of swing timer issues is more than made up for by the gigantic leap in autoattack DPS.
And bear in mind that this was written before we had Maelstrom weapon and haste increased our spell dps as well as auto-attack.

I'm gonna cast a ancestral spirit on this. Not too bad, only from a couple months ago.
Has anyone tried it on live yet? I'm curious to see what kind of results come in. Just doing a bit of reading, black magic has a 45sec internal cooldown and 35% chance to proc 250 haste. It can only proc off of one weap (confirmation?) so this idea would be to replace one beserking enchant.
Berserking has a 1.2 ppm, so the question is that will the 250 haste increase our instant attacks to the point where it'll make up for the loss of the 400 ap proc from a second berserker.
My gut instinct is to say that this would be a viable combo at lower passive haste levels (ie. crappier gear), but gets worse as you get more haste on your gear.
Theorycrafters, go! me love you long time =D

To my limited knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong):
Black Magic has a 15s duration with a 35s (!) ICD.
At or nor BiS 3.2 gear levels geming haste for enhance was already slightly superior to gemming AP.
Both combined might actually make BM a very valid enhance weapon enchant.

Levva (the author of the ShockAndAwe addon) said that he didn't think that Black agic was anywhere close to Zerking
here
. Still, i'd like to see some kind of theorycrafting on it.

Sorry for the nub question, but I'm still new at shammy . . . ing.
I just got a new weapon for my enhance set in the new 5 man and it's likely that it won't be replaced anytime soon, so I was going to put the big bad expensive enchant on it. You guys keep mentioning Berserking, is that the best one? Also, both weapons or just one?
At this point, Berserking is still the best weapon enchant for BOTH weapons.

Interesting, whatever happened to Mongoose enchant? Especially for enhance? I asume you guys are saying that Berserk is better than Mongoose? Not even on one of the weap?
Thanks

Mongoose is just worse than Berserking. Here is some old math on it:
http://elitistjerks.com/f79/t38419-enhancement_weapon_enchants/
Bottom line is this: Berserking and Mongoose both have ROUGHLY a 40% uptime. You get 400 AP from Berserking, or about 160 static AP. You get 120 Agi (120 AP and some crit) and 2% haste, or 48 static AP and nominal amounts of static haste/crit.
Berserking is just better.

we also have
this
so more ap is always better, which is the same reason we gem for AP and not agi.
