StarCraft II's Battle.net PreviewBy fewyn on 02/09/2010 at 3:39 PM PST

Blizzard just launched a new page on their StarCraft II website that contains a preview of the new Battle.net integrated service for all Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft. In this preview you will find some of the new features and developmental screenshots of the new service—which includes competitive arenas, cross-connectivity between Blizzard games and a way to post mods and community created content. There is also a video interview with Greg Canessa, Project Director for Battle.net, where he covers all of this and more. As this pertains to World of Warcraft players as we will most likely see most of the previewed features integrated into the game in future content patches. http://www.starcraft2.com/features/misc/battlenet.xml I am personally very excited about this, how about you?

No More Limited Attempts in Icecrown Normal ModesBy fewyn on 02/08/2010 at 7:02 PM PST

Blizzard has decided that they needed to change up the limited attempts system for Icecrown Citadel. Normal mode wipes on Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa, and The Lich King will no longer count towards the limited attempts. The limited attempts are still in effect for Heroic mode versions of the encounters. After each region's maintenance this week, raids will no longer lose attempts on wipes in Normal mode for Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa, and the Lich King. There will still be limited attempts in Heroic mode. We will continue to monitor developments in Icecrown Citadel in the future, especially since the Heroic difficulty has been unlocked by a significant number of raids.

Changes to Lich King Weapon DropsBy fewyn on 02/08/2010 at 3:57 PM PST

There can only be one...Blizzard recently decided the weapon drops from The Lich King needed to be re-optimized in order to measure up to the quality you would expect from The Lich King. Both the heroic and normal versions will have traded certain stats for others—for example, Royal Scepter of Terenas II is having its MP5 replaced with haste rating (yay!). The blue post with the full list of changes follows: After reviewing several items available from the Lich King encounter, we've decided to re-optimise certain weapons that didn't meet with our expectations and the quality that the Lich King expects. The weapons listed below, both their Normal and Heroic versions, will now better represent their respective roles and present more intriguing options to players.

Blizzard Insider #32: Interview With WoW DesignersBy fewyn on 02/03/2010 at 7:36 PM PST

In the latest edition of the Blizzard Insider newsletter, which has just been released, Blizzard interviews Scott "Daelo" Mercer, World of Warcraft's Lead Encounter Designer, and Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street, World of Warcraft's Lead Systems Designer, about everyone's favorite bad guy... Arthas. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/3p3/riseandfall-interview.xml The interview talks about a lot of things, such as Arthas' role and how it came about, and how they shaped the expansion around The Lich King. They also talk about the Cataclysm's upcoming world event—which will supposedly be at least as big as the zombie invasion, if not even bigger.

We did, after all—if you're paying close attention, you may be able to find an image in there of Mystadio's baby daughter. :) Source: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wowanniversary/battlecry/

Icecrown Citadel Weeklies Now AvailableBy Malgayne on 02/03/2010 at 1:22 AM PST

So I know I've been spamming you with blogs today, but I couldn't let this one go by: The weekly quests for Icecrown Citadel are now available! If you're looking to find them all in one convenient list, you can just use the Sack of Frosty Treasures item page! Scroll down to the Reward from section to see the complete list of quests. :) For those of you who are wondering, the raid weeklies don't have a centralized NPC who gives them. The NPCs who give the quest actually spawn inside the raid instance itself. Only one NPC will spawn, and it's a different spawn for each quest. It's my understanding that they're pretty hard to miss, though, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding yours. :)
